NHN recently hosted an invitation event at its headquarters for the University Game Developer Association (UNIDEV).

NHN conducts open recruitment for its gaming division annually, with another round slated for the latter half of this year. As part of its pre-recruitment activities to boost understanding of the business and identify promising prospects early, the firm invited UNIDEV to its campus.

UNIDEV is a coalition of game development clubs from over 20 universities, including KAIST, Seoul National University, Korea University, and Yonsei University. Formed in 2023, the group aims to create an environment where student developers can share ideas and create freely. They have since gained recognition for their own game exhibition, 'UNICON', and the game jam, 'UNIJAM'.

Some 30 students from UNIDEV attended the event, which featured a campus tour, an introduction to NHN's portfolio, Q&A sessions, and table talks segmented by job function—business, planning, development, and art. These table talks, led by industry veterans, were well-received as they allowed students to ask professionals about the practical aspects of their roles, providing valuable guidance for their career paths.

A computer science student from Seoul National University remarked, "As I became interested in employment, I was curious about how a game company actually operates. It was incredibly insightful to hear directly from the staff. I found the atmosphere surprisingly open and flexible, and it was fascinating to learn that beyond the mind sports platform 'Hangame', there are so many diverse projects currently in the works."

Kim Sang-ho, Head of the NHN Game Business Division, stated, "It was a meaningful time to engage directly with the core talents who will lead the future of the gaming industry." Kim added, "We plan to continue sharing our practical experiences and expand opportunities for top-tier talent to get an up-close look at NHN."

NHN intends to proceed with its open recruitment for the gaming division in the second half of the year, following the trend set last year. The company will also continue running pre-recruitment programs tied to the hiring process.
