Wargaming is commemorating the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II with the 14.7 update for World of Warships.

Over the course of three weeks, with one new mission launching each week, players can dive into three distinct operations that chronicle the shifting tides of the conflict. You will join a seven-player team to escort vessels, pull off daring night raids, and dismantle enemy fortifications.

While these operations require specific tiers and nations to match historical accuracy, do not fret if your port is lacking; the developer provides rental ships such as the French Tier VI cruiser La Galissonnière and the American Tier VIII cruiser Cleveland to ensure you can participate.

Once those three weeks conclude, a grand operation titled 'World War II Campaign' opens up. You can tackle any unfinished objectives using Tier VII to IX ships from ten specific nations.

By earning stars in these operations and unlocking subsequent stages, you can explore historical anecdotes and videos. Rewards include a custom underwater explosion effect, a permanent victory camouflage for the Iowa, and a 10-skill point Commander, Robert Adams. You will also collect items for the new '1939-1945 Chronicle' collection. Complete every stage, and the San Diego awaits as your ultimate prize.

A personal dockyard event also kicks off, allowing for the construction of the Tier X destroyer Laffey. This vessel comes equipped with an improved Defensive AA Fire consumable, a boosted Repair Party, and a timed Smoke Generator that offers tactical flexibility. While the Laffey suffers from short torpedo range and a rather fragile hull, it makes up for it with excellent concealment and enough firepower to dominate in gunnery-focused engagements.

The Armory is also receiving a quality-of-life update with a new rarity system. You can now easily distinguish the rarity of ships, camouflages, and explosion effects through colour-coded grading.
