A new game has emerged where you team up with an AI investigator to crack cases using the lateral thinking 'Turtle Soup' style of reasoning.

Taiwanese indie studio Gamtropy announced that the demo for their AI-powered deduction game, Sofa Detective, landed on Steam this past 14th. The game challenges you to solve mysteries with an AI partner, relying on the 'Turtle Soup' format where the AI only responds with 'Yes', 'No', or 'Irrelevant'.

You will be working alongside a feline AI detective to get to the bottom of these riddles. As you fire off questions, the detective responds with those classic constraints—'Yes', 'No', or 'Irrelevant'—often throwing in some unexpected banter that keeps things surprisingly fresh.

Beyond the pre-baked mysteries, the studio has included a creation mode that lets you cook up your own scenarios. By simply inputting keywords, a specific situation, and a conclusion, the AI handles the logic and builds the mystery for you. It is a neat feature that lets you test your own brainteasers or share them with mates.

The game isn't just about the 'Turtle Soup' format; you will find 'Twenty Questions' modes and story-driven cases built around specific themes. Looking ahead, Gamtropy plans to introduce a multiplayer challenge mode for those who prefer to tackle these mysteries as a team.
