Fresh off its Early Access debut last May, the new title 'The Rogue Prince of Persia' has officially launched on the 21st, holding steady with a 'Very Positive' (87%) rating from players.

The Rogue Prince of Persia blends action platforming with a roguelite loop. Set in the Ctesiphon region around the 4th century, the story follows a Hunnish leader who sends legions of possessed soldiers to lay waste to the city. As the Prince, it is your duty to defend the capital.

The gameplay loop feels familiar to anyone who has dabbled in roguelikes. You clear out formidable foes or crack open chests to scavenge for Medallions and weaponry. These Medallions act as passive buffs, offering diverse effects like igniting flames during a drop attack or hurling additional projectiles when using special moves.

The armory is quite extensive, featuring dual blades, claws, longswords, and axes, all sorted by rarity from common to legendary. Combat relies heavily on mixing basic and special attacks, while heavy hitters like the Minotaur await as boss encounters. As with any proper roguelike, death sends you straight back to the start of the map.

The Rogue Prince of Persia kicked off its Early Access journey in May 2024 with the first act, followed by a second act in November. On the 21st, the developers pushed the final story act, added new regions including the 'Ctesiphon Harbour' and 'Besieged Palace', and introduced the final boss, 'King Nogai', marking the transition to a full release.
