Set to join the Overwatch 2 roster this December, 'Vendetta' is a high-mobility female warrior who wields a massive greatsword, sporting a revealing suit of armor and long hair. Balancing a melee character in a game dominated by ranged firepower is a significant challenge, so the developers have focused on balancing her defensive capabilities and agility. Her ultimate, 'Severing Blade', is capable of piercing through enemy health and armor. In response, Marvel Rivals fans have claimed that her character design and kit mechanics are too similar to their own hero, 'Magik'.

Conversely, some have pointed out that the skill set of Marvel Rivals' newly introduced strategist 'Gambit' bears a striking resemblance to Overwatch 2's 'Wuyang'. Critics argue that Gambit’s knockback attacks, healing amplification, and an ultimate that grants allies speed and jumping ability mirror Wuyang’s existing kit.

With accusations of mutual imitation being raised, a more pragmatic view is gaining traction: given the significant time required for game content development and announcement, it is difficult to hastily judge plagiarism. A high-mobility female warrior with a greatsword is a common trope in comics and anime, and the ability concepts for both Wuyang and Gambit are not particularly unique. It is likely that both development teams simply arrived at similar design concepts by coincidence.
