NEXON rolled out its first winter update on the 18th, bringing a long-awaited remaster for the MapleStory class 'Kinesis'.

While the core concept remains, the developers have polished the skill effects and character aesthetics to look significantly sharper. They've also ditched the Psychic Points system, aiming to align the playstyle with modern expectations.

Until January 14, players who nurture their Kinesis characters and complete daily missions—such as defeating 1,000 monsters within their level range—can bag themselves a 'Petit Jay' pet package, a Kinesis hair/face coupon, and a KINETIC medal voucher.

Alongside this, the Challengers World Season 3 makes its debut. They’ve overhauled the level missions from 5-level intervals to 1-level steps, capping out at level 290. Plus, a new 'Challengers Partner' system lets two players team up to pool their experience gains. Keep an eye out for the exclusive Shining Star Force event every other Sunday.

The season boss 'Kai', a solo-only encounter exclusive to Challengers World, has arrived. You’ll need to be level 270 for Normal difficulty or 280 for Hard. Kai manipulates time with some special skills, and taking him down rewards you with Golden Meso Pouches and Kai's Abyssal Accessory Box. Finish him during the event period, and you'll walk away with special cosmetic trinkets.

Leveling events like Hyper Burning MAX and Burning BEYOND are in full swing, and the Burning PLUS event lets you push your Challenger’s Armor all the way up to 22-star Star Force.

The winter festivities also include 'Elanos Chronicle', where the event summon 'Elanos' evolves alongside your progress. With login rewards, coin shops, and event skills, there's plenty to keep you busy. Hit the 60-day attendance mark, and you'll earn the new 'Legendary Growth Elixir', which offers a full level up for characters below 279, or a massive experience boost for those at 280 and above.

For the high-level crowd, there's a Momentum Pass for level 280+ characters, the Mecha-Berry Farm, and a 'Winter Survival' mission series for newcomers that offers tiered support rewards.

NEXON has also eased the grind for characters level 275 and up, while introducing a level 3 expansion for Link Skills. Reaching level 11 with your Authentic Symbol now grants a bonus to boss damage and extra experience gains.

In what the publisher calls a major quality-of-life push, they've added voice chat, a buff manager system, unified world mesos, a V-Matrix overhaul for 5th job advancement, gender-swap tickets, and a simplified 6th job questline.

An open beta for custom illustrations is live, allowing you to replace the standard pixel-art characters in story quests with proper artwork. Also, mark your calendars: the 'New Name Auction', where you can trade character nicknames, runs from December 24 to January 14.

On December 21, head to a PC bang for some perks, including 5 hours of free play. Depending on your playtime, you can snag up to 10,000 NEXON Cash, 400 Sol Erda Fragment vouchers, and 4x EXP coupons (30 mins). You can stack up to 10 hours of playtime that day, and if you hit the 10-hour mark during the premium PC bang event starting December 19, you'll secure the 'Sweet Spirit (30 days) Box'.
