Nexon announced on the 15th that it has applied the second part of its winter update to MapleStory, including the new common core, 'Sol Hecate'.

Common cores are skills that can be used by all classes after activating the 6th job advancement. 'Sol Hecate', the second common core added following 'Sol Janus', is a summon skill that allows players to acquire exclusive skills and change its appearance based on the skill level.

'Sol Hecate: Styx', activated at level 1, applies stackable crowd control to enemies. 'Sol Hecate: Charon', activated at level 20, provides a death-defying effect and 10 seconds of invincibility. 'Sol Hecate: Phlegethon', unlocked at level 30, is an extreme attack skill with a two-minute cooldown. Through 'Sol Hecate: Factum', players can set specific skills or commands to automatically trigger or cancel Sol Hecate's exclusive skills.

Along with this, a new boss, 'Radiant Calamity', is introduced. It appears in the 'Temple of Delusion' within the new 'Black Sea' region and can be challenged by up to 3 players level 280 or higher. The key to the strategy is to lower the illusion magic gauge by moving between reality and the illusion space. Upon defeat, players can obtain items such as the new Radiant boss accessory, the 'Ecstatic Nightmare' ring.

A clear event commemorating the arrival of Radiant Calamity will also be held. Starting at 7:00 PM on January 22nd, the first 10 users to successfully clear the Hard difficulty solo will be gifted the 'Ruler of Calamity' animated title, a 'Sea Where Calamity Sleeps' custom background coupon, and a 'Call of Delusion' finish attack effect coupon.

Additionally, all players who succeed in clearing the Normal difficulty or higher by February 11th will receive a 'Calamity Spirit' effect selection box, and those who clear the Hard difficulty will receive additional 'Call of Delusion' name tag and speech bubble ring coupons.

Furthermore, the 'Astra Secondary Weapon' is being introduced. Players can grow the weapon through three stages by collecting 'Traces of Fierce Battle' and 'Ereon Fragments' through daily quests in the Grandis region and boss clears. The Star Force enhancement limit increases according to the stage. The potential and additional potential of existing secondary weapons can be transferred to the Astra Secondary Weapon.

In addition, to stabilize the in-game economy, access to Azmos Canyon will be discontinued and sources of Maple Coins will be removed. Mileage Shop items and Daily Gift rewards that previously provided Maple Coins will be changed, and Maple Coins, which were rewards for clearing Epic Dungeons, will be replaced with Serazar Coins.

A new event providing growth support items is also being introduced. The 'Burning Express' event will run until February 11th, providing high-tier EXP exchange tickets and the new 'Express Booster' item to characters level 260 or higher who defeat 1,000 monsters within their level range.

On January 25th and February 8th, a new type of 'Special Sunday Maple' event, 'Sol Erda Time', will be held. Players who stay logged in for 3 cumulative hours will receive 1 Sol Erda and 100 Sol Erda Shards, and a 3x drop rate benefit for Sol Erda will be applied while hunting.
