Following the demise of the series' iconic villain, Shredder, a truce was struck between the Foot Clan and the Turtles—only for it to be shattered by the second Shredder’s machinations, leading to the tragic deaths of Master Splinter and the brothers.

With the city of New York spiralling into chaos under the totalitarian rule of Shredder’s grandson, the sole surviving Turtle is left to wander, haunted by the apparitions of his fallen kin. His initial attempts at vengeance falter, but the narrative truly kicks into gear once he crosses paths with an older April O'Neil.
