On the 22nd, Kakao Games dropped a brand-new developer update for 'God Save Birmingham', the open-world zombie survival sim currently in the works at their subsidiary, Ocean Drive Studio. They also confirmed that a global Closed Beta Test (CBT) is kicking off on the 23rd.

The latest developer update gives us a proper look at combat tweaks, fresh survival mechanics, and a revamped weather system. To start, the team has tightened up attack animations and cranked up the responsiveness when interacting with zombies and environmental objects, aiming for a much punchier combat feel. They’ve also tossed in new toys like one-handed swords and halberds, alongside a clever new feature that lets you lure zombies using sound.

Survival is getting a bit more domestic too; chickens have been added to your repertoire, providing a steady supply of eggs. You'll also be foraging for fruit and veggies in the woods. The weather system has undergone a major overhaul as well, with fog and rain now playing a much more significant role in your day-to-day struggle to stay alive.

The global CBT for 'God Save Birmingham' runs from June 23rd to June 30th via Steam. You can throw your hat in the ring by applying on Steam; those selected will get to test-drive all the latest improvements and content additions firsthand.

Ocean Drive Studio PD Soon-wook Shin remarked, "I believe it's far more important to refine the experience rather than just piling on features," adding, "We are fully committed to polishing the game to a high standard through continuous development, testing, and iteration."
