In World of Warcraft (WoW), the 'Mythic+' difficulty is the ultimate ladder for those chasing the peak. However, a Game Master (GM) recently found themselves out of a job after being caught using developer-only commands to slaughter a boss in a level 23 dungeon for a friend.

The scandal broke on the 21st (US time) when a Reddit user presented combat logs showing the GM deploying an 'Area Death TEST' skill, instantly deleting a boss that still had 90% of its health remaining. If verified, this represents a blatant case of a staff member abusing authority to unfairly inflate a player's progress.

The truth came out when the player involved in the run appeared on a Twitch streamer's broadcast, confirming the suspicions. The player admitted to asking a GM friend for help to secure a seasonal title, adding that while the GM was merely trying to be helpful, the action was fundamentally wrong.

By the 24th, the management team delivered their verdict. Randy Jordan, a community manager, posted on the official WoW forums: "We investigated an incident where a group of players gained unfair advantages using developer tools on live servers. We confirmed that a Blizzard employee violated our code of conduct and has been terminated immediately. We are also taking action against the involved player accounts."

The statement clarified that while a small number of Blizzard staff have access to developer tools for testing and emergency hotfixes on live servers, using them for anything other than professional duties is strictly prohibited. Management further noted that the abuse of developer privileges was restricted to the single individual who has since been dismissed.
