God of War Laufey, which was revealed last June, is officially set for release on February 16 next year. The game serves as a narrative bridge to the next major installment featuring Kratos.

This news was announced on the 25th (local time) during the God of War: Laufey panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2026. Creative Director Cory Barlog of Santa Monica Studio confirmed that the next God of War title following Laufey will see Kratos return to the spotlight, with the plot directly tied to the events of Laufey.

Cory Barlog noted, "Everything done in the Laufey game is a continuation of the previous saga, setting the stage and expanding upon the stories yet to come." He added, "While Laufey offers a different flavor, it remains part of a grander narrative encompassing diverse characters that the team genuinely wants to explore. That said, Kratos games will absolutely continue, and the team is incredibly excited for what lies ahead."

God of War Laufey was first unveiled during the PlayStation Showcase 'State of Play' back in June. The game follows the journey of Faye, spouse to Kratos and mother to Atreus, as she fights through the afterlife of the gods to save her husband and son. Players will be joined by a talking cube named 'Frank' and engage in fast-paced combat using a mix of swordplay and magic.

God of War Laufey is scheduled to launch on PS5 on February 16, 2027.
