The release date for the latest entry in the Battlefield series, Battlefield 6, has been confirmed. With the announcement, pre-orders have gone live on Steam, and Battlefield 6 has immediately vaulted to the number one spot on the global top sellers list.

Battlefield 6 first made an appearance back in February through a closed test dubbed 'Battlefield Labs.' The developer promised to recapture the magic felt before Battlefield 2042 by reintroducing a modern-warfare-themed single-player campaign—reminiscent of the glory days of Battlefield 3 and 4—which piqued interest as various snippets and alpha test footage began to leak.

On July 23, the official title was confirmed as Battlefield 6, and on August 1, alongside the multiplayer gameplay trailer, new details emerged. Battlefield 6 focuses on a conflict between NATO forces and a fictional mercenary corporation, 'Pax Armata.' Most importantly, the specialist system introduced in Battlefield 2042 is being scrapped in favor of the series' traditional four-class structure.

The series' signature vehicle-based combat and destructible environments remain intact. The developer has confirmed that players will be able to drag allies to safety for revival, and melee execution animations are making a comeback. Beyond these legacy features, the movement system has been overhauled to allow for greater freedom, including reduced bullet travel time, adjusted recoil, and refined mechanics for crouching, jumping, and leaning.

Battlefield 6 is set to launch on October 11. After the failure of Battlefield 2042, the studio has undergone a massive restructuring, and the big question is whether Battlefield 6 can restore the series to its former glory. For the Korean market, the hype is reaching a fever pitch, as this will be the first entry in the series to feature full Korean dubbing.
