OFF, the 2008 cult classic that shaped the meta-fictional DNA of Undertale, has finally arrived on Steam. A remastered version, featuring the involvement of Toby Fox, launched on the 16th to a 'Very Positive' reception from the community.

Originally created in 2008 by the Belgian developer Mortis Ghost using RPG Maker, OFF follows the Batter on a divine mission to purify the world by purging sinister entities. The game is known for its uncanny atmosphere, bizarre character designs, and meta-narrative elements that break the fourth wall. Mortis Ghost’s work was famously cited by Toby Fox as a primary inspiration during the development of Undertale.

News of the remaster first surfaced in 2024 via the creator’s X account. While maintaining the original's unsettling charm, the remaster introduces a revamped combat system, new areas, and hidden bosses. The project drew significant attention for its new soundtrack, which features contributions from Toby Fox, Camellia, and Morusque, the latter of whom also worked on Stray.

As of the 19th, OFF holds a 'Very Positive' rating with 741 reviews, boasting a 94% approval rate. Veterans are celebrating the return of this classic, praising the additional combat mechanics and boss encounters. However, some players have expressed mixed feelings, noting that the newly composed music occasionally clashes with the original's haunting atmosphere.

In the daily peak Concurrent Players top 20, Delta Force has defied the typical post-weekend slump, maintaining over 195,554 players and holding the 5th spot—a milestone it has sustained for over a month.
