KakaoTalk, which has recently struggled with updates that ignored user convenience, has decided to accept user feedback and significantly revamp its core 'Friends' tab. Kakao stated that this reorganization is a measure to resolve accumulated user complaints and restore the original usability of KakaoTalk.

The most significant change is that the 'Friends List' will return as the primary screen of the Friends tab. The feed-style posts that previously occupied the main screen will be separated into a distinct menu called 'News'.

This is intended to allow users to access their 'Friends List' for communication with acquaintances more easily and quickly. The Friends tab reorganization is scheduled to be applied within the fourth quarter of this year, considering development timelines.

In addition to the Friends tab reorganization, Kakao is simplifying procedures for minor protection. On the 27th, a 'Minor Protection Request' menu was added to the 'Now Tab' (short-form content) to improve accessibility, and the company is reviewing plans to make the application and setup process even simpler in the future.

A Kakao representative emphasized, "We are continuing to work on UX/UI improvements beyond the Friends tab," adding, "We will continue to actively reflect diverse feedback to ensure that users can use KakaoTalk more conveniently."

Attention is focused on whether this reorganization will be able to restore the tarnished reputation of KakaoTalk.
