Rumors are swirling that Rockstar Games may have granted a terminally ill fan an early look at 'GTA 6', the most anticipated title of 2026.

The story began on LinkedIn, where Ubisoft Toronto developer Anthony Armstrong shared a post. He explained that his family member, a long-time fan of the GTA series, has been battling cancer for years and was recently given a prognosis of only six to twelve months to live, making it unlikely they would survive until the scheduled November release.

Armstrong noted that his relative resides near Rockstar's Oakville studio and made a public plea for a private playtest. He acknowledged the importance of security during the development phase and expressed a willingness to follow necessary procedures, such as signing a non-disclosure agreement (NDA). The post spread rapidly across gaming communities.

Following the post, Armstrong updated his followers, revealing that he had been contacted by Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Rockstar's parent company, Take-Two Interactive. He added that he had spoken with the Rockstar team and received wonderful news. The original post has since been deleted, and no further progress has been disclosed.

There have been previous instances of game companies providing early access to terminally ill fans. In 2018, Rockstar Games allowed a terminally ill patient to experience 'Red Dead Redemption 2' shortly before its release. Other studios, such as Bethesda Game Studios (Fallout 76) and Gearbox Software (Borderlands 3), have also demonstrated similar kindness by showcasing unreleased titles or implementing tributes to fans within their games.
