MapleStory, now marking its 23rd anniversary, is rolling out a massive suite of updates that bridge the gap between the digital and the physical.

NEXON dropped the news on the 14th, outlining a packed schedule of anniversary events and collaborations. Director Chang-sup Kim took to the virtual stage during the 'MapleStory NOW LAN Tour' live stream to detail the plans and engage directly with the community. The broadcast was beamed out simultaneously via NEXON Live and their official YouTube channel.

First up, we have 'MAPLE ATTACK', a 23rd-anniversary extravaganza running from March through June. NEXON is taking over Jamsil—specifically Lotte World Adventure, Lotte World Tower/Mall, and Seokchon Lake. Starting from the 14th, Lotte World Adventure will be draped in MapleStory IP, culminating in the grand opening of the 600-pyeong 'Maple Island' zone on April 3rd.

Maple Island isn't just for show; it's a dedicated IP theme zone with fresh attractions. Following that, on April 29th, the park will hold a full-day private event. From May 22nd, the focus shifts to the Lotte World Tower/Mall grass plaza for the 'Henesys Mushroom Park' exhibition. Meanwhile, Seokchon Lake will feature the 'Orange Mushroom Art Balloon' and a host of participatory events, alongside a pop-up store at Lotte World Mall featuring various brand tie-ins.

Inside the game, the 'Mascot Parade' event kicks off. Participants can trial the 3-set effect of the limited-time 'Luna Petit Pets'. Stick with it for the 12-week attendance and parade missions, and you’ll earn a 'Luna Petit Pet' of your choice. There’s also the 'Maple Sweets' event, designed to boost your character’s stats and shower you with rewards for engaging with the content.

We’re also getting a new burning event: 'Change Burning: Lucid'. Paired with 'Hyper Burning Booster' and 'Tera Blink', this allows you to transform your character into 'Lucid' to tackle exclusive dungeons and special monster hunts. As you level up 'Lucid', you'll snag growth support items, and even your main character gets a slice of the leveling cake. Rewards include new enhancement items like 'Adversary's Black Cube', 'Adversary's White Additional Cube', and 'Adversary's Abyss Flame of Reincarnation' for use on Genesis, Destiny, and Astra gear.

NEXON is also smoothing out the rough edges of the player experience. They’re halving the XP required from level 200 to 260, fast-tracking your entry into Grandis. Daily and weekly tasks will now drop more Arcane and Authentic Symbols, too. Boss fights are getting a tune-up as well; patterns for 'Chosen Seren', 'Watcher Kalos', 'Kaling', 'Limbo', and 'Jupiter' are all being reworked.

Furthermore, they’re finally letting us juggle both the 'Continuous Ring' and 'Restraint Ring' simultaneously. A new combat analysis tool, 'Yeonmujang', is being introduced to help you scrutinize your attack cycles with detailed data and replays. Plus, we’re getting new bags for boss loot and symbols, and existing '2x EXP Coupons' are being buffed to '3x EXP Coupons'. Expect general quality-of-life tweaks like clearer cooldown displays and practice mode buffs.

The live stream also touched on the game's economy. The item crafting process is getting a polish, and the current 'Suspicious Additional Cube', 'Master Craftsman's Cube', and 'Meister's Cube' are being replaced by the new 'Bronze Additional Cube', 'Silver Cube', and 'Gold Cube', all of which feature a memorial function.

As for the Flames of Reincarnation, the 'Powerful Flame of Reincarnation' is being swapped for the new 'Blazing Flame of Reincarnation'. For boss drops, we’re seeing new items like 'Memento Silver Cube', 'Memento Gold Cube', and 'Memento Bronze Additional Cube' specifically for non-tradeable gear below level 200.

Enhancement is becoming less of a headache, too. A new feature allows you to restore a destroyed item to its previous Star Force level using Mesos. Bonus Stat resets will also now be possible via Mesos. To top it off, auto-enhancement features are being added for Star Force, bonus stats, potential, and additional potential.

Finally, the 'World Archive' collection system, which debuted last autumn, is expanding to the Arcane River. Expect adjustments to the damage for class-specific common cores like 'Sol Janus' and 'Erda Fountain', along with a customisation feature for 'Sol Hecate'. The third new common core, which buffs 5th job common skills, is slated for an April update.
