Nexon has officially kicked off its 23rd-anniversary celebrations for MapleStory on the 19th, unveiling a massive first-wave update and the 'Maple Attack!' event. This isn't just a digital affair; it’s an expansive hybrid celebration spanning both the streets of Jamsil, Seoul, and the game’s own virtual landscape, set to run until June. Players can now witness MapleStory monsters invading the streets of Seoul within the game, alongside a flurry of celebratory perks.

First up, there's the 'Mascot Parade' attendance event—simply logging in nets you rewards. Participants get a taste of a timed Luna Petit pet set effect, and if you complete the 'Parade Mission' by logging in for 12 weeks and slaying a set quota of level-appropriate monsters, you’ll earn a permanent-extendable Luna Petit pet.

Your attendance also grants 'Gift Tickets,' which can be traded for various growth and enhancement boons. Meanwhile, the concurrent 'Maple Sweets' event lets you grind through weekly missions to boost your character’s stats and unlock specific content rewards.

Then we have the 'Change Burning: Lucid' event. It’s a bit of a twist—you get to transform into the iconic Lucid, tackling exclusive boss encounters and specialized gear dungeons. Both your transformed state and your main character receive a hefty stack of growth rewards. Keep an eye out for 'Adversary's Black Cubes,' 'Adversary's White Additional Cubes,' and 'Adversary's Abyss Flame of Reincarnation,' which are essential for polishing your Genesis, Destiny, and Astra gear.

Nexon has also taken a long, hard look at quality-of-life improvements. The experience required to level up between 200 and 260 has been slashed by half, and they’ve significantly ramped up the supply of Arcane and Authentic Symbols from daily and weekly tasks. Boss encounters like 'Chosen Seren,' 'Watcher Kalos,' and 'Kaling' have also received a polish to smooth out those frustrating combat patterns.

Combat enthusiasts should note that special skill ring mechanics have been overhauled, allowing for the simultaneous use of 'Continuous Ring' and 'Restraint Ring.' A new 'Training Ground' feature lets you dissect your attack cycles with replay functions and share combat data with others. Other tweaks include expanded inventory space, improved EXP coupons, refined effect options, clearer buff timers, and a more robust practice mode.

The in-game economy is getting a bit of a facelift, too. Old staples like 'Suspicious Additional Cubes' and 'Master Craftsman's Cubes' are being replaced by the 'Bronze Additional Cube,' 'Silver Cube,' and 'Gold Cube,' all featuring the new 'Memorial' function. Similarly, 'Eternal' and 'Powerful Flames of Reincarnation' are being swapped for the 'Black Flame of Reincarnation' and the new 'Blazing Flame of Reincarnation.'

Furthermore, if you happen to shatter your gear during Star Force enhancement, you can now use Meso and identical gear to restore it to the level just before destruction—up to 22 stars. Additional option stats can now be reset using Meso, and an auto-enhancement feature has been added for Star Force, potential resets, and additional options.

The 'World Archive' collection system, which debuted last autumn, is now expanding to the Arcane River. Players get one 'Hyper Burning Booster' per account, offering a 1+4 level-up boost up to level 260. Plus, from March 20th to April 16th, premium PC cafes are offering extra mileage and growth items based on your daily and cumulative playtime.

To cap off the 23rd anniversary on April 29th, MapleStory is taking over Lotte World Adventure for an exclusive event. Starting May 22nd, the 'Henesys Mushroom Park' exhibition will pop up at the Lotte World Tower and Mall lawn, featuring a massive 'Orange Mushroom Art Balloon' at Seokchon Lake. Expect plenty of pop-up stores and various collaborations with Lotte brands to follow.
