SD Gundam G Generation Eternal (hereinafter G Generation Eternal) launched last April and has officially reached its first anniversary. To celebrate, a new main stage and signature UR units from iconic series were deployed on April 1. These include the Wing Gundam Zero and Tallgeese III from Endless Waltz, alongside the 00 Raiser from Mobile Suit Gundam 00. With all three units boasting solid performance, they are set to become reliable cornerstones for your future roster. You should definitely aim for them through the 47-pull (47 consecutive draws) event that guarantees two UR units.

As previously noted, the core of the 1st-anniversary update that kicked off on April 1 is the new UR units. First up, the Endless Waltz version of the UR Wing Gundam Zero comes armed with a powerful MAP weapon (area-of-effect attack), the 'Rolling Buster Rifle'. When triggered, the unit performs a 360-degree spin, firing its rifle and striking multiple enemies within range. If you position it correctly, you can wipe out a cluster of standard enemy units in one go.

What makes this unit particularly tactical is that unlike others, you can use the MAP weapon even after moving. For instance, you can defeat a single enemy unit to trigger a 'Chance Step' for an extra turn, then use that momentum to infiltrate deep into enemy lines and unleash the MAP weapon to clear even more foes. The base damage is respectable, so keeping that Chance Step chain going is rarely a problem.

The 00 Raiser, the protagonist unit from Mobile Suit Gundam 00 Second Season, is another UR unit that has drawn attention for its solid performance. It operates as a 'dealer-tank' hybrid, excelling in both defensive durability and offensive output. While some fans were initially disappointed when it was teased as a 'defensive unit' prior to the update, the sentiment shifted quickly once players discovered its surprisingly potent attack capabilities.

When paired with Setsuna as the pilot, the unit revives with 7% HP even after being shot down. This allows you to counter enemies attempting a 'one-shot kill' and effectively break the enemy's 'Chance Step' chain by disrupting their attack routes. While this is great for PvE content like the main stages, it will likely prove even more advantageous in the Master League, where players clash head-to-head.

You can try out both 1st-anniversary UR units via the special stage running until April 23. Aside from testing their performance, clearing these stages rewards you with 1,000 Diamonds to toss into various pickups. Finally, the Tallgeese III, added as a standard unit, has also been evaluated as a solid performer, equipped with weapons that include armor-reduction options.

The newly unveiled main stages cover the latter half of Mobile Suit Gundam 00 and New Mobile Report Gundam W: Endless Waltz. With anime cutscenes placed before and after battles, along with in-game dialogue, even those unfamiliar with the source material can easily follow the plot. Beyond standard combat, the stages capture the flavour of the originals, such as the sequence where everyone works together to clear orbital elevator debris to protect civilians in 00, or the desperate charge while firing cannons toward the presidential residence in Endless Waltz.

The 1st-anniversary event that began in earnest on April 1 is the perfect time to boost your combat power by acquiring UR units. The highlight is the Panel Mission, running until 11:59 AM on April 30. By completing missions to collect 47 tickets, you can perform 47 consecutive draws, guaranteeing you at least two UR units. The system is designed so that even newcomers starting at the anniversary can easily reach the 47-pull milestone, and if you haven't finished all missions, you can supplement your tickets with the anniversary countdown login bonus.

Completing the panel missions nets you an additional 3,000 Diamonds, with more available via login bonuses. You can hoard these to take a crack at securing even more UR units. Notably, a UR unit-guaranteed 10-consecutive draw banner is available until 11:59 AM on April 30, where you can retry until you get the result you want. Essentially, if you play your cards right, you could start your journey with three or more UR units.

G Generation Eternal requires you to deploy 5 series-specific units and 5 free-choice units when tackling main stages. Series-specific units are acquired through draws, stage clears, and development. The SSR units obtained this way are also quite reliable. Meanwhile, the 'free' squad allows you to place any unit regardless of series. If you manage to bag some good UR units, you can use them universally across various main stages to maintain a solid baseline of combat power.

For normal difficulty main stages, you can easily breeze through with auto-battle as long as you account for the recommended combat power. It’s a great way to enjoy the flair of Gundam with its characteristically flashy animations. Once you get the hang of it, you can dive deeper into the strategy by playing manually—intercepting enemies from outside their range to avoid counterattacks or utilizing 'Support Defense' to have allies take hits for each other, putting your tactical brain to the test.

The updates won't stop after the anniversary; more are scheduled throughout the first half of the year. Mobile Suit Gundam NT will be added as a main stage at the end of April, followed by the new story event 'Mobile Suit Gundam: Thunderbolt: Bandit Flower' in early May. Two more story events will follow in succession: Mobile Suit Gundam Cross Dimension 0079 in late May and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED C.E.73 Stargazer in mid-June.
