Gyeonggi Content Agency (GCA) has officially teamed up with key organizations in the northern Gyeonggi region, aiming to boost the local esports culture and revitalize the regional game industry ecosystem as part of their '2026 Regional Collaboration Enhancement (Esports)' initiative.

The GCA is looking to build a bespoke esports governance structure tailored to the unique characteristics of northern Gyeonggi, with plans to host community-driven festivals that locals can enjoy in their daily lives.

The initiative began on April 21 with an initial agreement involving the Yangju Esports Association and Dongyang University's Gyeonggi RISE (Regional Innovation System & Education) project group, followed by a second signing ceremony with the Goyang Special City Esports Association on April 24.

Under this new pact, the GCA and its partners are set to roll out local esports events throughout May. First up is the 'Yangju Esports Festival' on May 16 at Okjeong Lake Park, which promises to be a family-friendly affair. Attendees can look forward to arcade and console gaming zones, along with live game OST performances. Dongyang University will also host fan-meet booths featuring professional esports teams.

The action continues from May 23 to 24 at Starfield Goyang with a series of esports experiences. Expect an FC Mobile event match, face painting, and a chance to get hands-on with XR (Extended Reality) gaming. They are also lining up special events featuring local esports clubs.

Tak Yong-seok, President of GCA, stated, "Building on this partnership, we will collaborate closely with local institutions to successfully host festivals that any resident interested in esports can easily enjoy," adding, "We remain committed to discovering diverse collaboration models to expand content accessibility across the northern Gyeonggi region."
