Digital Touch has just dropped a fresh batch of details and a detailed trailer for 'Atelier Karia: The Kingdom of Night and the Signpost of Memories' (hereinafter 'Atelier Karia'), the latest alchemy RPG cooked up by Koei Tecmo Games. The title is slated for launch on PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam.

The protagonist, Karia, features a rather peculiar growth system: she eats to level up. It is not just about raw ingredients or gourmet meals; she can scarf down items synthesized via alchemy, which in turn alters her appearance and abilities in over 100 different ways. They have also introduced a new synthesis system using the alchemy cauldron, where your arrangement of 'Mana Pieces' dramatically dictates the final performance of your items.

Exploration and combat are equally item-dependent. You will use your crafted goods to bypass environmental puzzles, while combat unfolds in real-time, spiced up with a parry mechanic to deflect enemy strikes and a command menu to flip the script on your foes. The story is set on the Aladis continent, where the earth's mana is fading, forcing you to delve deep into the mysteries of the underground world.

The tale picks up two years after the events where Yumia, the alchemist from the previous game, solved the continent's enigmas. We follow Karia, an amnesiac pioneer adventurer, alongside biologist Selvio Lector, knight Pina Rosen, and the returning lead Yumia Riesfelt as they investigate underground ruins.
