Sandbox Interactive announced on the 24th that the massive 'Dragonfire' content update for Albion Online will arrive on August 31st. This update will be rolled out simultaneously across all available platforms.

The update leans heavily into the dragon-themed content that fans have been clamouring for. The narrative kicks off with Ashborne completing a ritual to resurrect dragons. Players will be tasked with facing the formidable fire dragon Azarion, who awaits in a high-difficulty lair accessible only to the most skilled adventurers. Furthermore, dragons will begin to emerge across the Royal Continent and the Outlands.

The fallout from the ritual has torn open a portal to the Ancient Lands, a new dimension floating in the skies above Albion. These floating islands are crawling with Ashborne forces, powerful drakes, and vast treasures. As players delve deeper into these regions, the difficulty ramps up significantly, culminating in the Dragon Sanctuary, a new raid dungeon where players must battle the leaders of Ashborne.

New loot is naturally on the menu, including gear crafted from dragon bones and wings. Most notably, players who manage to fell the fire dragon Azarion may be rewarded with a Drake Egg, which can be hatched into a fiery Drake mount.

Moritz Bokelmann, the Game Director at Sandbox Interactive, described 'Dragonfire' as a game-changer that the community has been anticipating for quite some time. Moritz Bokelmann added that the team is eager for players to experience the most challenging PvE combat yet, alongside the exploration of these new sky-bound territories, starting August 31st.
