NEXON announced on the 30th that it has rolled out the new 'DUEL' seasonal update for V4. This patch centres on a significant overhaul of competitive content, the introduction of a fresh progression system, and various character refinements. Players can now dive into new team-based combat and a buffed-up progression loop to keep things interesting.

First off, the 'Legacy of Glory' competitive mode now features a small-scale team battle format. Upon entering the arena, 8 players are randomly paired into teams of two to engage in cooperative combat. Once the match concludes, the game tallies the eliminations and assists of the team members to determine rankings, with rewards distributed based on the team's collective performance.

Alongside this, the developer introduced the 'Soul Liberation' system. This allows players to consume existing mounts, companions, and pets—ranging from Rare to Mythical grades—to grant the character permanent stat bonuses. Naturally, the higher the grade and quantity of materials sacrificed, the greater the chance of success.

Combat performance has also been tweaked, with the Duelist and Blader classes undergoing a thorough renewal to boost efficiency. Quality-of-life updates haven't been ignored either; a 'batch dismantle' feature has been added to clear out unwanted clutter from your inventory, and the main menu UI has been redesigned so that players can find and navigate to their desired content much faster.

To celebrate the update, NEXON is running a slew of events. The 'Starter Festival' will run until October 14, gifting all players who log in a 'The V Plus' restoration ticket and a growth set. Furthermore, an event shop will remain open until October 22, where players can exchange event currency—earned through hunting—for items like Legendary Companion Hatching eggs.

Returning players are also being courted with a growth support box containing one Legendary Companion Selection Box, one Vatra's Summon and Shadow Pack, and five 100 Million Gold Chests. Additionally, through October 28, a login event will reward players with various items, including a Legendary Shadow Selection Box, depending on the number of days logged in.
