Riot Games officially announced on the 25th, via their official website, the host venues for each stage of the upcoming League of Legends World Championship, scheduled to take place in China from mid-October to early November.

A total of 17 teams will compete in the 2025 World Championship. Following their top performances at the recent Mid-Season Invitational, both Korea (LCK) and China (LPL) have secured four slots each, while EMEA (LEC), the Americas (LTA), and Asia-Pacific (LCP) will each field three teams.

The Play-In Stage, a single-day event on October 14 (Tuesday), will be hosted at the Beijing Smart Esports Center. This marks the first time this venue has played host to a World Championship event.

This year introduces a fresh twist to the Play-In Stage: the fourth-seed teams from the LCK and LPL—the two regions that dominated the MSI—will face off in a best-of-five series for a ticket to the Swiss Stage. The winner advances, while the loser faces immediate elimination.

The Swiss Stage kicks off on October 15 (Wednesday) and runs through October 25 (Saturday) at the same venue, featuring 16 teams from five global regions. Teams are paired based on their current records, inching closer to the Knockout Stage with each win and toward elimination with each loss. Reaching three wins secures a spot in the next phase, while three losses result in an early exit. While most matches are best-of-one, high-stakes elimination or advancement bouts will be played as best-of-three.

The eight survivors of the Swiss Stage will head to Shanghai’s premier venue, the Mercedes-Benz Arena, for the Knockout Stage from October 28 (Tuesday) to November 2 (Sunday). As one of Shanghai’s first certified 'Grade A Esports Venues,' the arena is no stranger to high-pressure matches, having hosted multiple LPL finals and the 2024 Valorant Masters final.

The Knockout Stage follows a single-elimination, best-of-five format. Notably, this year’s World Championship will be the first in history to proceed without a break, with both the quarterfinals and semifinals packed into a single week.

The grand finale is set for November 9 (Sunday) at the Dong'an Lake Sports Park Multifunctional Gymnasium in Chengdu.
