Recently, a wave of games has been removed from Steam due to pressure from credit card companies. In response, a developer who felt unfairly targeted has begun distributing their removed game for free.

This news was shared via the official website of DreadXP, a publisher specializing in horror games. Solo developer Cara Cadaver stated, "My horror game, Vile: Exhumed, was scheduled to launch on Steam on July 22, but it was removed and banned from sale due to censorship."

Cara Cadaver expressed frustration regarding the situation, noting, "Vile: Exhumed is a game about exploring old computers to uncover secrets, depicting the horror of social obsession and misogyny; it contains absolutely no nudity or sexual content."

Along with this, the game has been made available for free via the DreadXP website. Cara Cadaver added, "By offering the game for free, no one can regulate the horror or the story within it."

Meanwhile, opposition to the censorship of adult-oriented games due to credit card company pressure is growing. In July, 190,000 people participated in an international petition against game censorship caused by credit card companies, and a campaign with the same goal held on GOG.com reportedly saw about 1 million users participate.
