The 'dictator simulator' returns; a new entry in the infamously eccentric Tropico series is officially on the horizon.

Kalypso Media pulled back the curtain on Tropico 7 during the Gamescom 2025 Xbox Showcase on the 21st. As the series has long established, the core gameplay revolves around managing a nation while ensuring personal wealth is siphoned off and political rivals are unceremoniously removed. Since tyranny is the primary objective, players are encouraged to engage in blatant embezzlement, diplomatic faux pas, and radical policy shifts to maintain a permanent grip on power.

Tropico 7 tasks players with executing the kind of absurd policies only a true dictator would dare, such as the Steam store page's boast to "literally move mountains" or the directive to "lead your loyal citizens and Swiss bank accounts toward timeless prosperity."

On the political front, expect to juggle various factions in parliament, face off against rivals, or simply eliminate them. Managing domestic and international crises will require a mix of elections and carefully crafted speeches. The game is set across the largest archipelago in the series, featuring 10 additional scenarios, sandbox maps, and a random map generator to ensure that every attempt at nation-building feels distinct.

The trailer concludes with a cheeky nod to the Tropican populace: "People of Tropico, a ruler never reveals all their cards at once," hinting that there is plenty more to come in future updates.

Tropico 7 is slated for a 2026 release, and according to the Steam page, it will feature support for Korean subtitles.
