As the first week of the 2025 LCK regular season's 5th round concludes, KT Rolster has punched its ticket to the playoffs after taking down T1. Meanwhile, BNK FearX has solidified its position in the Rise group's top two, clinching a berth for the play-ins.

It has been a rocky road for KT Rolster, who suffered a 0-2 defeat against T1 back in the 1st round of the 2025 LCK regular season and struggled to find a single win against the upper-tier Legend group teams, save for Nongshim RedForce, throughout the 3rd and 4th rounds.

However, in the match held on Sunday the 24th, KT Rolster pulled off a brilliant 2-0 sweep against T1, bringing their record to 13 wins and 15 losses. Even if KT Rolster were to lose the remaining fixtures, the team has already secured enough wins to stay ahead of the 5th-placed Nongshim RedForce, guaranteeing their own spot in the 2025 LCK playoffs. Nongshim RedForce, now locked in 5th place within the Legend group, will begin their post-season journey from the play-ins.

As for T1, they were dealt a stinging blow by KT Rolster, missing a golden opportunity to claim sole possession of 2nd place. Just a day prior on Saturday the 23rd, Hanwha Life Esports—who had been locked in a fierce 2nd-place battle—fell 1-2 to Gen.G, wrapping up the first week with 19 wins and 9 losses. Had T1 managed to best KT Rolster on Sunday, they would have surged ahead with a 20-8 record; instead, their 0-2 defeat means T1 must wait until the second week to challenge for that 2nd-place spot again.

In the Rise group, where three teams are scrapping for two tickets while Dplus KIA has already pulled away from the pack, BNK FearX secured their play-in spot following a 2-1 victory over OKSavingsBank BRION on Thursday the 21st.

With only one ticket left up for grabs, the gap between OKSavingsBank BRION and DRX has narrowed compared to last week. DRX took down Dplus KIA's rival, DN Freaks, 2-0 on Wednesday the 20th, but slipped 1-2 to Dplus KIA on Friday the 22nd, sitting at 9 wins and 19 losses. OKSavingsBank BRION finished the first week of the 5th round at 10 wins and 18 losses after dropping matches to both BNK FearX and DN Freaks. The two teams are set to clash in the final match of the 5th round's second week, meaning the owner of that final ticket will be decided at the very last moment of the regular season.

Moving on to individual feats, following the milestone of 700 career wins set by Lee 'Faker' Sang-hyeok during the 2nd week of the 4th round of the 2025 LCK, mid-laners continued to etch their names into the history books during the first week of the 5th round.

KT Rolster's mid-laner Gwak 'Bdd' Bo-seong reached 4,500 total career assists in the LCK. Gwak is only the second mid-laner to hit this mark, trailing only Lee. In that very same match, KT Rolster also snapped their 9-match losing streak against T1 with their 2-0 victory.

Gen.G's mid-laner Jeong 'Chovy' Ji-hoon hit 2,500 career kills in the LCK during the match against Nongshim RedForce on Wednesday the 20th. Jeong becomes the third mid-laner to achieve this, and the sixth player overall in LCK history.

The junglers have also been making waves. Han 'Peanut' Wang-ho of Hanwha Life Esports achieved a historic first for a jungler, reaching 5,500 total assists in the LCK regular season during the 3rd set against KT Rolster on Thursday the 21st. Meanwhile, T1's jungler Moon 'Oner' Hyeon-joon hit 3,000 career assists during the match against Nongshim RedForce on Friday the 22nd, becoming the 5th jungler and the 21st player overall to reach that milestone.
