The legal dispute between Sony and Tencent over the alleged plagiarism of Horizon has been concluded through a private settlement. Tencent's new title, 'Light of Motiram,' which was subject to plagiarism allegations, has been removed from Steam and the Epic Games Store.

The details were confirmed through documents submitted to the court on December 17 (local time). According to the filings, Sony and Tencent reached a settlement regarding the copyright and trademark infringement of Horizon, leading to the dismissal of the lawsuit filed by Sony. The specific terms of the settlement were not disclosed, and each party will bear its own legal costs. Additionally, the official pages for Light of Motiram on Steam and the Epic Games Store have been taken down.

Regarding the settlement, Sean Durkin, head of communications at Tencent America, stated to the US tech publication The Verge, "We are pleased to have reached a confidential settlement and will not be making any further public comments on this matter," adding, "We look forward to the possibility of the two companies collaborating in the future."

This issue began when Sony filed a lawsuit for copyright and trademark infringement in July, claiming that 'Light of Motiram,' introduced as a new Tencent title, copied core elements of its Horizon IP. Initially, Tencent countered that elements such as a red-headed protagonist, a post-apocalyptic world, and mechanical monsters were widely used tropes in the genre. However, with both companies reaching a settlement, the legal dispute has now been concluded.
