SEGA has just revealed that three iconic characters are about to join the fray in Sonic Racing Crossworld.

The new playable roster includes Red from Rovio Entertainment’s Angry Birds, Arle Nadja from the Puyo Puyo and Madou Monogatari series, and the legendary Goro Majima from the Yakuza series. Interestingly, Majima is skipping his usual suit for his pirate guise, 'Captain Majima', as seen in the spin-off.

Sonic Racing Crossworld is the latest entry in the Sonic Racing series, launched by SEGA’s racing team last September. At the time of its release, it notched an 83 on Metacritic—getting uncomfortably close to its rival Mario Kart World—and currently maintains a 'Very Positive' rating (94% positive) from Steam users.

Sonic Racing Crossworld initially turned heads by launching with 23 drivers, the largest roster in the series to date. Since then, we have seen various cameos like Kasuga Ichiban and Joker, alongside a bizarrely eclectic mix of DLC guests including Hatsune Miku, Pac-Man, SpongeBob, and even Minecraft characters.

You can expect Red and Captain Majima to arrive in a free update this April, with Arle following in May. Exact dates are still under wraps, so stay tuned.
