Blizzard kicked off the latest season of Hearthstone Battlegrounds, 'Call of the Cataclysm', on the 15th. This season introduces two fresh keywords, a revamped selection of returning and new trinkets, two brand-new heroes, 48 new minions, and a pool of 61 returning minions.

The new keywords include 'Consume' for the Demon tribe and 'Chromatic Dragon' for the Dragons. 'Consume' minions are added to a personal pool; when you refresh, hungry allied Demons gobble them up for stat boosts, leaving the slot empty for more. As for the 'Chromatic Dragons', they come in five distinct colours, each designed to buff your Dragon synergies and Tavern spells.

Two new heroes are also joining the fray. We have the 'King of Duality', Genn Greymane, who wields two hero powers at once, and Mr. Clocksworth, who uses 'Overclock' to accelerate minion upgrades. Alongside these, players can encounter 48 new minions and 61 familiar faces.

The 'Trinket' system has received a tune-up to ensure better synergy offers. You will find a total of 73 new trinkets and 149 classics returning to the fold. With the launch of Season 13, Battlegrounds ratings and match lengths have been adjusted, and plenty of Cataclysm-themed cosmetics await those looking to spice up their board.

Meanwhile, the 'Battle for the Firelands' event runs until May 6th. In this timeline-bending romp, you will team up with Malfurion to stop Ragnaros the Firelord from setting the World Tree ablaze. Success brings rewards like cards, Cataclysm packs, coins, and hero skins.
