Wemade has concluded its dispute with China's Kingnet (Shanghai Kaiying Network Technology) over unpaid royalties for the 'Legend of Mir 2' intellectual property (IP) through a settlement agreement. Wemade has received approximately 43 billion KRW (198,646,893 CNY) in settlement funds from Kingnet.

The dispute between the two companies began when Kingnet’s subsidiary, Zhejiang Huanyu, failed to pay royalties for 'Namwoljeongi', a game based on 'Legend of Mir 2' that has been serviced in China since 2016. Wemade asserted its rights as the original copyright holder through international arbitration and Chinese court proceedings, securing a ruling that held Kingnet liable for the unpaid royalties. Since then, Wemade has been pursuing enforcement procedures to collect the damages.

Wemade signed the settlement agreement with Kingnet to resolve risks associated with the long-term dispute and to stabilize its 'Legend of Mir 2' IP business. Under this agreement, both parties have mutually withdrawn all ongoing arbitration and litigation related to 'Namwoljeongi' in South Korea, China, and Singapore, and Wemade has received the settlement payment. Separately, on March 21, the ICC International Court of Arbitration dismissed in its entirety a claim filed by Zhejiang Huanyu in 2023, which had sought to invalidate the licensing agreement and claim damages against Wemade.

A Wemade representative stated that this settlement is a "meaningful example of holding parties accountable for illegal copyright infringement and restoring the rights of the original copyright holder," adding, "We will continue to actively protect our key intellectual properties, including 'Legend of Mir 2', and further enhance their value."
