Let's be honest, whenever Fumito Ueda—the mastermind behind Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian—announces something new, we sit up and take notice. Now, we finally have a clearer look at his latest project.

Ueda's studio, genDESIGN, took to the stage at Summer Game Fest 2026 on the 6th to officially pull the curtain back on their new title, 'Gen Atlas'.Hardcore fans might remember this one appearing at The Game Awards 2024, though it was shrouded in mystery under the working title 'Project Robot' back then.

The trailer kicks off with our protagonist stranded on an alien planet—a classic setup, but one Ueda excels at. The world is littered with ancient ruins and the skeletal remains of a forgotten mechanical civilisation. As you explore, you'll peel back the layers of this world's history, hopping into flying machines and even merging with giant robots to get the job done. The action looks suitably intense, too. We see our hero dodging desert monstrosities while engaged in a high-speed vehicular shootout, and later, taking control of a massive mech for some good old-fashioned close-quarters brawling. There's even a bit of platforming flavour, as you use wingsuits and ladders to scale these towering behemoths.

Gen Atlas is slated for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. As for a firm release date or confirmation of Korean language support, we're still left in the dark. Best of luck waiting for more news, mates.
