Claude Guillemot, one of the co-founders of Ubisoft, has tragically passed away following a light aircraft crash.

This heartbreaking news has been confirmed by various international outlets, including the AP and Bloomberg. According to reports, the light aircraft owned by Guillemot crashed just moments before its scheduled landing at the La Baule-Escoublac airport in a French coastal resort town on the 19th. Both Guillemot and his flight instructor were on board, and tragically, neither survived the incident.

Ubisoft issued an official statement via international press, noting, "We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Claude Guillemot, co-founder of the group and chairman of Guillemot Corporation, in such a tragic accident. We extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time."

Claude Guillemot was a key figure who helped establish Ubisoft alongside his four brothers back in 1986. He had since been serving as the chairman of Guillemot Corporation, a firm specialising in the production of computer and console peripherals and hardware.
