The upcoming title in the Super Danganronpa series, 'Super Danganronpa 2x2', has officially pushed its release window to early next year.

Spike Chunsoft dropped the news on the 4th during Anime Expo 2026. Super Danganronpa 2x2 serves as a fresh entry, building upon the foundations of the original 'Super Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair' while introducing a completely original scenario.

This installment features the new 'Slayhem' mode, where a single turning point leads to a chaotic web of victims, culprits, and tricks that drift far from the original narrative. The Slayhem mode boasts over 20% more content volume compared to its predecessor and is selectable from the start. Furthermore, the team announced the introduction of a revamped world map system.

Initially slated for a 2026 release, the developers felt forced to delay the launch to polish the overall experience. Producer Shohei Sakakibara took to the official X account to state, "We appreciate everyone who has been cheering for and waiting for the game." The producer added, "Although we aimed for a 2026 release, we have decided to move the launch to early 2027 to ensure the best possible experience for players."

The producer further noted, "The development team is working tirelessly to secure a higher level of quality. We ask for the generous understanding of our fans, and we will share further details, including a specific release date, as soon as possible."
