Voice actor Kang Hee-sun, beloved by the nation for voicing 'Misae Noh' in Crayon Shin-chan and as the iconic voice of daily subway announcements, has passed away after a long battle with illness. She was 65.

On the 4th, Kang Hee-sun passed away following a four-year struggle with illness. Since joining the TBC voice acting troupe as part of the 10th generation in 1979, she maintained a prolific career spanning four decades across animation, games, foreign films, and narration. Even after receiving a terminal diagnosis in 2021, she famously recorded for a Crayon Shin-chan theatrical release from her hospital bed, a story she shared on the program You Quiz on the Block.

She was best known for voicing 'Misae Noh' and 'Bo' in the animation Crayon Shin-chan. Beyond animation, she became the familiar voice of Seoul and Busan subway announcements starting in 1996. Furthermore, she served as the dedicated Korean voice for Hollywood icons including Sharon Stone, Michelle Pfeiffer, Julia Roberts, and Nicole Kidman.

Within the gaming industry, she was a staple for players, reprising the roles of Misae Noh and Bo in Crayon Shin-chan video games. She also lent her talents to Cyphers as 'Helena', and connected with gamers over many years through roles such as I-No in the Guilty Gear series and Embla von Praios in The War of Genesis 3: Part 2.
