Marvel Rivals, the PvP shooter built on the Marvel IP, has revealed detailed update information for its third season, 'The Abyss Awakens'.

Marvel Rivals follows a two-month cadence for seasonal refreshes. Season 3, 'The Abyss Awakens', kicks off on July 11. It introduces a new hero, Phoenix, alongside a fresh map dubbed 'Klyntar: Celestial Husk', topped off with an assortment of new features and content.

Jean Grey, better known by the alias 'Phoenix', joins the roster as a Duelist. As an original member of the X-Men and the wielder of the Phoenix Force, she is set to make a splash. The new map, 'Klyntar: Celestial Husk', features a backstory where the remains of a Celestial, slaughtered by Knull, plummet from the heavens. Players can dive into this map starting in Season 3.

This season brings a system update, introducing fresh customization options for the accessory system. Additionally, a new competitive mode is slated for the latter half of the season. Furthermore, the developer is rolling out a university student verification program. Once verified, students gain access to 10 skins and an MVP animation. This program is launching first for students in the US and UK via email verification, with plans to expand to other regions down the line. Beyond that, expect a brand-new Battle Pass and four fresh team-up skills to mix up the gameplay.

Meanwhile, the Marvel Rivals team has confirmed their attendance at San Diego Comic-Con 2025. Starting on the 24th, fans can look forward to a variety of events, including hands-on demo sessions and prize giveaways. There will also be a panel discussion where the development team will share behind-the-scenes stories.
