The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is set to host the national finals of the 17th President's Cup Amateur eSports Tournament at the Jecheon Gymnasium from the 16th to the 17th. Since 2009, the Ministry has held this tournament annually with a clear goal: to promote balanced regional development and build a sustainable ecosystem where amateur eSports athletes can thrive.

This year, roughly 300 participants, including representatives from 16 metropolitan cities and provinces, are competing across five titles: League of Legends, FC Online, Eternal Return, Brawl Stars, and Street Fighter 6.

The stakes are set, with the Presidential Award going to the municipality that takes the overall victory, while the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Minister's Award awaits the top performers in each category. There is also a ministerial commendation for the most exemplary municipality.

The opening ceremony kicks off at 12:00 PM on August 16th at the Jecheon Gymnasium, where attendees can enjoy various side events, including hands-on experience zones for eSports titles and indie games.

Jeong Sang-won, Director-General of the Content Policy Bureau at the Ministry, stated, "Fostering an amateur ecosystem rooted in grassroots eSports is vital for the industry's continued growth," adding, "The Ministry remains committed to expanding regional eSports events and strengthening local infrastructure to provide unwavering support."
