A fresh tank shooter is rolling onto the scene, offering a reimagining of post-WWII armoured warfare.

Wargaming pulled the covers off its latest project, 'World of Tanks: HEAT', during the Gamescom 2025 Opening Night Live on the 19th (local time). Opening Night Live serves as the high-octane curtain-raiser for the world's largest gaming trade fair.

Set in the post-WWII era, World of Tanks: HEAT is a free-to-play title designed to inject a bit more pace and dynamism into the classic tank combat formula. Players will dive into 10v10 brawls, leveraging unique abilities, deep customisation systems, and a variety of experimental prototypes. You can kit out your iron beast with advanced weapon systems, armour modules, and cosmetic upgrades to ensure your ride perfectly suits your battlefield style.

Wargaming CEO Victor Kislyi stated, "World of Tanks: HEAT embodies our vision for a fresh tank experience, promising new settings, snappy mechanics, and cutting-edge tech. By inheriting the DNA of the original franchise, the project will allow players to engage in tank combat in ways previously unimaginable."

Artyom Yantsevich, Product Director for World of Tanks: HEAT, described the announcement as a major milestone, representing all the hard work and creativity poured into the project. Yantsevich expressed genuine excitement about debuting the title at Gamescom and looks forward to collaborating closely with players as the journey unfolds.

Developed using a new proprietary engine, 'World of Tanks: HEAT' is set to support cross-platform play across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
