The Total War: Medieval series is finally making a comeback after a 19-year hiatus. While details remain thin, save for the news that it will be built on the next-gen 'Warscape' engine, the legacy of its predecessor has fans buzzing with genuine excitement.

Creative Assembly, the developer behind the franchise, dropped the bombshell during the Total War 25th Anniversary showcase on the 5th (KST). The reveal trailer featured live-action shots of various figures—an elder, a child, and a youth—each taking their turn on the throne, cleverly setting the mood for the medieval epic.

According to the official blog, Medieval 3 will be powered by 'Warscape', the next-gen evolution of their engine. The team aims to overhaul animations, rendering, and campaign structures to deliver a medieval experience that feels more visceral than ever before.

We are still in the dark regarding a concrete release date, specific game systems, or actual gameplay footage. The developers have admitted that the game is in the 'early stages of development' and won't arrive for a few years, so do not hold your breath just yet.
