Detailed information for the new Path of Exile 2 expansion, 'The Last Druid', was unveiled during a live broadcast on the 5th.

'The Last Druid' serves as the third expansion following the early access launch of Path of Exile 2, introducing a fresh class, new scenarios, and the 'Fate of the Vaal' league among other varied content.

The Druid, added in this expansion, is a hybrid class that juggles both magical incantations and physical strikes. In their human form, they wield staves to command the earth and nature, while morphing into beasts for combo-heavy assaults. They can litter the battlefield with magma patches or conjure roots to ensnare foes; these lingering spells become exponentially more potent when chained with animal-form abilities.

Players can also equip a new weapon type, the 'Beast Charm', to shapeshift into three distinct forms: Bear, Wolf, and Wyvern. The Bear boasts brute strength and endurance, delivering heavy-handed blows that grow in power during the heat of combat. The Wolf harnesses lunar energy for cold-based attacks and summons a pack for agile, rapid-fire strikes. Finally, the Wyvern excels at both melee and ranged combat, slashing with claws, unleashing lightning explosions, and breathing fire.

Two ascendancy classes for the Druid have also been revealed. The 'Shaman' focuses on amplifying spells, raining down meteors, lightning, and ice upon enemies. Meanwhile, the 'Oracle' hones the power of foresight, allowing players to predict monster movements and seize the upper hand in battle.

The 'Fate of the Vaal' league whisks players back in time to thwart Queen Atziri, who sought to annihilate the ancient Vaal Empire. You will be tasked with designing the structure of the temple yourself before delving into dungeons that lead to the ancient civilization. Along the way, you can earn special custom rewards, culminating in a showdown with the final boss, Atziri, to secure high-tier loot and unique equipment.

Furthermore, over 30 new support gems are being introduced. These include gems that expand the ignition area when combined with wind skills, or those that add extra damage when paired with ground-targeted abilities, encouraging deeper synergy through skill combinations.

Additionally, the Abyss content from the previous 'Third Edict' league is now being integrated as a core feature. The new Path of Exile 2 expansion, 'The Last Druid', will be available to play starting on the 13th.

Meanwhile, Path of Exile 2 will host a free-to-play event running from 4:00 AM on the 13th until 4:00 AM on the 16th.
