The Xbox Developer Direct on the 23rd finally unveiled the latest entry, Forza Horizon 6. It has already climbed to the number one spot on the global Steam best-sellers chart as pre-orders officially opened.

While the previous outing, Forza Horizon 5, took us on a Mexican tour, we’re now heading to Japan. The urban sprawl of Tokyo is over five times larger than what we saw in the last game, featuring iconic landmarks like the Shibuya Crossing, Tokyo Tower, and the bustling harbour district. Rather than sticking to a strict 1:1 scale, the developers have reimagined the Japanese landscape to prioritize driving thrills and visual flair. With a new seasonal weather system, you’ll experience environmental changes over time, across varied terrain from mountain passes to tight back alleys.

The progression loop has also evolved. You aren't starting as a seasoned superstar; you’re a tourist arriving in Japan with dreams of making it big at the Horizon Festival. You'll need to pass qualifiers to join the festival and follow the 'Wristband' system, climbing the ranks until you snag the Gold Wristband, which unlocks the exclusive 'Legend Island'. For the completionists, the new 'Adventure Journal' tracks your exploration, turning every snapshot and landmark visit into a collection of stamps.

The new 'The Estate' housing system has also been introduced. Players can purchase abandoned mountain land to build structures or design their own tracks, and the 'Horizon Collab' feature allows you to build alongside friends. Additionally, cultural touchstones like the Daikoku Parking Area have been recreated as 'Car Meet' hubs, serving as social spaces to show off your ride and share tuning tips with other players.

At launch, the game will feature over 550 vehicles. The 2025 Toyota GR GT Prototype and the Land Cruiser have been selected as the cover cars. The physics engine has been improved to visually represent tire wear, and a new acoustic modeling system provides realistic reflections based on the environment. Accessibility features like high-contrast modes and auto-driving assists have been added, along with enhanced customization options, such as the ability to apply decals to windows.

Forza Horizon 6 launches on May 19 and will officially support Korean. Premium Edition purchasers can access the game early starting May 15.

Elsewhere, Helldivers 2 has surged into second place following a new Warbond and balance patch. Meanwhile, Cult of the Lamb has released a wintry new DLC, pushing both the base game and the expansion into the top ranks. The new DLC is currently rated 'Very Positive'. No Rest for the Wicked climbed to 8th place following a multiplayer update and a free-to-play period running until the 27th.

In the daily peak concurrent players top 20, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree has fallen out of the top 20, with Geometry Dash taking its place. FiveM recorded 92,692 players, showing a slight increase in mod users heading into the weekend. Marvel Rivals also showed growth with 161,638 players, as the effect of the new season continues.
