HoYoverse announced on the 6th that they have released the 8.7 update for Honkai Impact 3rd, titled 'Time that Awakens the Dawn.' This update serves as a celebration of the game’s 9th anniversary, introducing the new S-rank character 'Mad Pleasure: Shadowbringer', alongside a fresh themed event and new main story content.

The new S-rank character, Raiden Mei, known as 'Mad Pleasure: Shadowbringer', is a MECH-type physical damage dealer who wields blades. She cuts through enemies with a triple-strike combo and tears across the battlefield like a storm, delivering heavy physical damage while filling up the Stun Trauma gauge.

The new themed event, 'TeRiRi's Magical Quest,' has also been opened. In this event, Ai-chan falls asleep after gorging on festival food, only to find herself trapped in a dream world pursued by a 'New Year's Beast.' As she tries to escape with Mei, players will run into familiar faces like Kiana, Bronya, Theresa, Seele, and Fu Hua, all while engaging in shopping and cooking up festival delicacies.

Those diving into the event can strategically combine cards to fend off the dream world's 'New Year's Beast.' Rewards include Crystals, event medals, Source Prisms, and the new outfit for 'Broken Anvils', 'Lantern in the Daytime'.

Finally, the main story Chapter 11 EX, 'The Night Dreamt by Light,' has been added. This chapter focuses on the fateful day for Senadina, weaving a tale out of everything she has dreamed of and witnessed. Crucially, it finally peels back the layers of mystery surrounding her identity and past, which have been a major point of intrigue since the start of Part 2.

Meanwhile, Honkai Impact 3rd is rolling out a variety of anniversary events and collaborations to mark its 9th year.
