MOUSE: P.I. For Hire (hereinafter MOUSE), the debut title from Fumi Games, has climbed to the top tier of Steam’s global best-sellers list just one day before its official launch.

MOUSE boasts a striking 'rubber hose' animation style that whisks you straight back to 1930s classic cartoons. When it was first unveiled, the game turned heads by blending that monochrome, exaggerated aesthetic with a gritty noir setting and surprisingly hardcore action.

The stage is set in 'Mouseburg,' a fictional city rotting with crime and corruption. You step into the shoes of private investigator Jack Pepper, unravelling a massive conspiracy woven between the city's elite and the criminal underworld. The gameplay isn't just about gunplay; you’ll be scouring maps for clues and solving puzzles while traversing diverse locations like film studios, opera houses, murky swamps, and subterranean sewers.

Mechanically, it’s a love letter to classic FPS run-and-gun combat, seasoned with Metroidvania-style exploration. Your arsenal ranges from standard machine guns and revolvers to more exotic weapons that can melt or freeze your foes. It feels like a nod to the likes of Doom or Quake, though with a cheeky twist—you’ll be munching on cheese to recover health or gulping down canned spinach to buff your melee attacks.
