Sony's 'State of Play' showcase on June 3rd dropped a bombshell of release dates, mate. We're talking a whole slate of anticipated titles, fronted by the Sony first-party gem 'Marvel's Wolverine', alongside 'Onimusha: Way of the Sword', 'Silent Hill: Townfall', and 'Control Resonant', all confirmed for a September launch.

First up, 'Marvel's Wolverine' was already pencilled in for September 15th, but now we've been treated to a rather brutal 7-and-a-half-minute gameplay deep dive. It's bloody, it's violent, and it gives us a proper look at some key players. Beyond Logan himself, expect to see Sabretooth and Mystique make an appearance, with Jean Grey showing up as an ally. Developed by Insomniac Games, this new action title sees our favourite grumpy mutant delving into the mysteries of his past in a solitary struggle.

Following closely are 'Silent Hill: Townfall' and 'Control Resonant', both hitting shelves on September 24th. The latest Silent Hill instalment centres on protagonist Simon Bellweather as he answers a cryptic phone call and ventures into the fog-shrouded St. Amelia. Meanwhile, 'Control Resonant' casts us as Dylan Faden, tasked with saving Manhattan from a supernatural threat.

Capcom's much-hyped 'Onimusha: Way of the Sword' is also set to land on September 25th. This latest entry in the Onimusha series follows Miyamoto Musashi as he battles demons in a twisted, demon-infested Kyoto. The trailer showcases Musashi in the thick of it within a demon castle. To celebrate, a trial version is now available on the PlayStation Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store.

October is kicking off with another cluster of high-profile releases. 'Rayman Legends Retold', a remake of the beloved 'Rayman Legends', arrives on October 1st, followed swiftly by 'Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve' on October 2nd. Oh, and 'Phantom Blade Zero', originally slated for September 9th, has been bumped back to October 29th.

The sheer volume of releases crammed into late September and early October has led to speculation that this is a strategic move to dodge the colossal shadow of GTA 6, which is currently slated for a November release. Smart, eh?

And that's not all, folks. We also got glimpses of several other intriguing titles. Prepare for 'God of War LAUFEY', charting Kratos's son Faye's journey through the afterlife, and 'Bancho the Chef', a prequel spin-off chronicling a sushi master's rise. Then there's 'Until Dawn 2', which promises supernatural shenanigans on a deserted island, and 'The Lost Wild' from the creators of 'Alien: Isolation', a dinosaur survival title.

'Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis', the reimagining of the original Tomb Raider, has been pushed back from its initial 2024 target to February 12th next year. Meanwhile, the chilling horror game 'ILL', a frequent chart-topper on Steam wishlists, has a new trailer and a confirmed 2025 release window.
