CI Games has finally pulled the curtain back at Summer Game Fest, dropping a fresh trailer titled 'The Battle for Thorngar' for their upcoming soulslike action RPG, Lords of the Fallen 2. Mark your calendars, as the studio is aiming for an autumn 2026 release across PC—via Steam and Epic Games Store—alongside PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

The trailer gives us our first proper look at Isiguen, a sprawling biome clearly drawing inspiration from Asian mythology. It is a land of twisted, imposing pagodas corrupted by demonic influence, complete with horned geishas and Lingao the Soaring Storm, a massive lightning-wreathed dragon acting as the region's gatekeeper. On the combat front, we are getting a new weapon class based on Japanese katanas, which should pair nicely with the existing scythes. Expect to run into plenty of new NPCs and even nastier Lords of Darkness as you traverse this world.

CI Games seems keen to evolve the franchise, and they aren't just blowing smoke. They claim to have taken the community feedback from the 2023 title—and the lessons learned from over 70 post-launch updates—to heart. The goal is to crank up the series' signature aggressive combat, making it faster, more intuitive, and frankly, more satisfying to play. You can look forward to brutal execution animations, expanded combat abilities, and a dismemberment system. Plus, they are promising distinct enemy factions per biome, dynamic boss encounters, day-one shared-progress co-op, and the return of the Umbral realm.
