The Game Culture Foundation is currently calling for participants for the 'GXG 2026 Game Music Competition: The 3rd Sound Track' (hereinafter GXG Sound Track), with the application window closing on July 19.

Now in its third year, this competition is all about celebrating the auditory side of gaming. The six finalists who make it through the preliminary rounds will take to the main stage at Pangyo Station Square on September 11, followed by a celebratory gala concert on September 12.

The pot is quite generous, with a total prize pool of 21,000,000 KRW up for grabs. This includes 10,000,000 KRW for the Grand Prize, 5,000,000 KRW for Gold, 2,000,000 KRW for each of the two Silver winners, and 1,000,000 KRW for each of the two Bronze recipients.

This year, 15 game companies have stepped up to provide 16 different themes for contestants to interpret: ▲Neowiz (Shape of Dreams, Lies of P: Overture) ▲Neople (Dungeon & Fighter, Dungeon & Fighter Mobile, The First Berserker: Khazan, Cyphers, and the D&F Universe) ▲Nexon Games (Blue Archive) ▲Nexon Korea (MapleStory) ▲Riot Games (League of Legends) ▲Supercell (Brawl Stars) ▲Epid Games (Trickcal Revive) ▲NC (Lineage) ▲NHN (Hangame Royal Hold'em, Hangame Low Badugi) ▲Wemade/Mad Engine (Night Crow) ▲Kakao Games/Lionheart Studio (Odin: Valhalla Rising) ▲Krafton (PUBG: Battlegrounds) ▲Pearl Abyss (Black Desert, Crimson Desert).

A spokesperson for the GXG 2026 organizing committee remarked, "As we mark our third year, this competition aims to elevate the brilliant synergy between gaming and music to an entirely new level of artistic maturity." They added, "We are eagerly awaiting creative challengers who can reimagine these beloved gaming icons with unique soundscapes, ready to paint the autumn in Pangyo with a fresh cultural vibe."
