HoYoverse announced on the 20th that the 2nd anniversary update for Zenless Zone Zero, version 3.1 titled 'Long Goodbye', will launch on the 29th. The update introduces the new main story chapter 'Long Goodbye', where representatives from New Eridu’s major factions arrive on an island, marking the first official meeting between the Proxy and the Public Security Bureau’s Chief Lindberne and Deputy Chief Sigrid.

The update brings a fresh roster of Agents and content. Remiel Dan, the game’s debut S-rank Lumen attribute Agent, features a mechanism that switches attack attributes based on the party's composition. Joining them is Sigrid, an S-rank Ice attribute Attack Agent who utilizes skills that increase crit rate. The new permanent content, 'Strange Maze: Bagel Project', tasks players with collecting materials in erosion zones to construct a research base.

Additionally, the limited-time 'Waves with Summer' event allows players to experience beach foraging and shop management, rewarding them with a costume for Lucy upon completion. A total of five new costumes are being added, and a 'Custom Signal Search' system will be introduced, allowing players to pre-select six S-rank Agents. Along with a new beginner’s guide, the update includes quality-of-life improvements such as accelerated progression for Inter-Knot levels 20 to 50 and W-Engine management features in the inventory.

Meanwhile, to celebrate the 2nd anniversary, HoYoverse will provide all players with one of five limited S-rank Agents—including Jane, 0-No. Enby, or Hugo—along with their signature W-Engine for free during version 3.1. Players will also receive 1,600 Polychromes as a login reward and 20 gacha pulls through an attendance event. In Korea, a collaboration with Round Pizza will be held from August 4th to 25th, featuring a limited-edition menu.
