Estimates suggest that recent sales of the Steam Deck have plummeted by approximately 83% to 87% compared to last year.

This news arrived on the 20th via BoilingSteam, a niche outlet dedicated to the Steam ecosystem. According to the report, the average weekly sales for the Steam Deck in July hovered between 1,400 and 3,000 units. This is a staggering drop from the 11,000 to 18,000 units per week recorded last year, though it remains unclear whether the previous year's figures represent the same calendar period or a full annual average for 2025.

This year's weekly volume was derived by dividing the total weekly revenue by an estimated average retail price. By synthesizing historical sales data, developer SKU analysis, and correlation models of concurrent players from Q2, the outlet projected total weekly revenue to be between $1.2 million (approx. 1.775 billion KRW) and $2.5 million (approx. 3.7 billion KRW). Furthermore, by factoring in retail inventory patterns and historical sales velocity, the average price for the LCD, 512GB OLED, and 1TB OLED models was estimated at $835 (approx. 1.23 million KRW).

Applying this same methodology to last year's data, the total weekly revenue would have been between $6 million (approx. 8.88 billion KRW) and $10 million (approx. 14.8 billion KRW), with an average selling price of roughly $540 (approx. 800,000 KRW).

BoilingSteam attributes this significant shift primarily to the price hike announced last May, effectively concluding that demand for the Steam Deck has all but vanished. The report further noted, "According to industry insiders, a price reduction is unlikely. Unless the Steam Deck 2 arrives or competitors significantly raise their own prices, this long-term slump is expected to continue."
