The horror Flash game that captivated players in the early 2010s, 'Gretel and Hansel', is getting a remake and launching on Steam.

Listed on Steam as 'Gretel and Hansel', this horror adventure title draws inspiration from the classic fairytale. It follows Gretel, who overhears a plot by a stepmother and father to abandon them in the woods, as she and her brother Hansel struggle to find their way home.

The gameplay primarily involves directing Gretel, while Hansel follows instructions passively. You primarily control Gretel, collecting items to solve puzzles. Beyond the satisfaction of overcoming various gimmicks, the game famously gained notoriety in Korea for Gretel’s rather gruesome death scenes.

The Steam remake includes the original Part 1 and Part 2, alongside a previously unreleased Part 3. The visuals have been overhauled with hand-drawn watercolors, bringing the characters, trees, shadows, and magical spells to life. While the art style remains charming, it perfectly preserves the signature gloomy and dark atmosphere of the original.

Gretel and Hansel is heading to Steam. The release date remains unconfirmed, though the game will feature support for Korean subtitles.
