Dark Souls, alongside Demon's Souls, is widely considered the title that pioneered the soulslike genre. An art book containing original design documents, concept art, and behind-the-scenes tales from the development team is officially launching in Korea on October 29.

Publisher BL Books kicked off pre-orders for the Korean edition of 'Dark Souls Design Works' on the 13th. Spanning 128 pages, this book is packed with the planning documents that mapped out the world of the first Dark Souls game, alongside a wealth of artwork. It also features development stories based on interviews with director Hidetaka Miyazaki and the FromSoftware team.

Director Miyazaki explained, "I based the design of Dark Souls on three main pillars: the imagery of gods and knights centered around Anor Londo, the chaos flame and demons rooted in the ruins of Izalith, and the concept of death revolving around Gravelord Nito. I then added the distinct aesthetic of ancient dragons—creatures existing before life itself—to form the bedrock of the game's visual identity."

Dark Souls Design Works held a successful crowdfunding campaign on Tumblbug back in June, with backers already receiving their copies. The official retail release in Korea is set for October 29, priced at 35,000 won. You can secure your copy now via online retailers like Kyobo Book Centre.
