A new Korean extraction title has arrived, feeling like a mashup of Escape from Tarkov and Darkest Dungeon.

Indie developer Studio Nemo unveiled 'Void Diver: Escape from the Abyss' (hereinafter 'Void Diver') on Steam on the 26th. It is a 2.5D pixel art extraction RPG set in a world where an ordinary city has been twisted into a massive dungeon by otherworldly forces. You lead a squad of 'Divers' into dangerous zones to recover artifacts and make it out in one piece.

The gameplay supports solo runs or co-op for up to three players. Your primary objective is to scrounge through a surreal mix of urban ruins and eldritch horrors to secure artifacts imbued with hyper-science or forbidden magic. You will manage characters with unique backgrounds and skills in real-time combat. Crucially, while it fits the extraction genre, it ditches the PvP elements found in games like 'Escape from Tarkov' to keep the stress levels manageable.

Survival isn't just about physical threats; it is a battle for your sanity. If your stress levels peak during exploration, you will suffer from bizarre anomalies, and even after finishing a mission, you must deal with lingering curses known as 'Paradoxes.' The lighting-based stress mechanics are a clear nod to Darkest Dungeon, adding that extra layer of dread.

Beyond the scraps of combat, there is a layer of character growth and management. You can min-max your performance by combining weapons, accessories, and distinct skill trees. You also get to play shopkeeper in the city centre, managing an antique store to support your divers and trade the relics you have scavenged.

Void Diver currently has a demo available via Steam. The Steam user reception for the demo is 'Very Positive' (119 reviews, 89% positive), with players noting that "the pixel art really adds to the atmosphere," "I'm looking forward to the full launch," and "it's twice as fun with friends."

Void Diver is scheduled for a 2026 PC release and will officially support Korean.
